Eric Bruntlett’s Gold Glove Campaign Not Going So Well April 10, 2008

Eric Bruntlett accounted for half of the Phillies four fielding errors yesterday in a disappointing effort
all-around for the club. Kyle Kendrick walked six and allowed seven runs on only four hits in an outing that resembled –well–any of his spring training starts. And today to close out the series? The ball is in Adam Eaton’s hands. But before you start sobbing at the thought of Eaton still being a Phillie, consider this; Eaton has a perfect 5-0 record and an ERA under 3 against the Mets in seven career starts. Not only that but he only gave up 2 earned runs in 7 2/3 innings last Saturday for his first start of the year.
So yes, on a day where Adam Eaton gets the call, he isn’t even the biggest concern on the field for the Phils. Jimmy, for the love of all that is baseball, PLEASE come back to the lineup. Despite the “facts“, Cole Hamels would probably find a great deal of difficulty trying to play all nine positions at once.
